Budgetgoat

Terms of service

Last updated: November 3, 2026

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Nick Hollins, who runs Budgetgoat ("Budgetgoat", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Budgetgoat, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. This is a beta

Budgetgoat is in a private, invite-only beta. Features will change, some will be unfinished, and things may break. Keep your own records of anything important, because we can't promise your data will never be lost during the beta. We may change or end the beta at any time. If we shut Budgetgoat down, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email.

3. Who can use Budgetgoat

You must be at least 18 and have been invited to the beta. Give us accurate account information and keep it up to date.

4. Your account

Keep your sign-in details private and don't share your account. You're responsible for what happens under it. If you think someone else has gotten into your account, email us right away at nick@budgetgoat.com.

5. Households

Everyone in a household can see and change its budget. Only invite people you trust with that information. The household's owner manages who is in it. If a member leaves, the bills, debts, and transactions they added stay with the household.

6. Your data

The budget data you enter is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only so we can run Budgetgoat for you and your household. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we handle it.

7. Not financial advice

Budgetgoat is a tool for tracking and planning your own money. It doesn't give financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and it doesn't move money or connect to your bank. Its numbers are only as accurate as what you enter, so check anything important before you rely on it.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use Budgetgoat to break the law. Don't try to get into another person's account or another household's data. Don't try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the app, and don't use bots or scripts to sign up or sign in.

9. Fees

Budgetgoat is free during the beta. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you before anything is charged, and you'll choose whether to pay.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using Budgetgoat at any time and delete your account in Settings, as the Privacy Policy describes. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why when we can.

11. Disclaimers

Budgetgoat is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always accurate.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in Collin County, Texas.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, email you before they take effect. If you keep using Budgetgoat after that, you accept the new terms.
